What C Grade Means
C Grade describes the physical commercial selection of the whole truffles rather than a guaranteed level of aroma or flavour intensity. Individual specimens in this selection are approximately 1–5 g, with natural variation in shape, colour, surface characteristics and condition.
Appearance, Aroma and Texture
Tuber aestivum typically has a dark brown to black naturally textured exterior and a light brown to hazelnut-brown interior with fine pale marbling. Its characteristic sensory profile is mild, with earthy, woodland and subtly nutty notes.
Freezing naturally changes the texture of fresh truffle, and the product may become softer after defrosting. Aroma intensity, interior colour, marbling, moisture, shape and texture vary naturally between individual truffles and production batches.
How to Use Frozen C Grade Black Summer Truffle
Defrost only the quantity required under refrigeration and use it promptly. The small whole truffles are particularly suitable for grating, chopping and incorporation into pasta, risotto, eggs, potatoes, sauces, fillings, vegetables and suitable meat dishes.
Frozen Storage
Transfer the unopened package to a freezer immediately after delivery and keep it stored at or below −18°C. Keep the product tightly sealed to limit dehydration and absorption of odours from other frozen foods.
After defrosting, use the required quantity promptly and do not refreeze unless the current product label specifically permits it. Always follow the storage instructions and use-by or best-before date stated on the current product label.
