Beginner Truffle Dog Training with Two Scent Sources

The Terra Ross Truffle Hunting Starter Kit combines two different scent sources for introductory canine truffle-recognition exercises: 100 g of fresh black truffle material and 100 ml of white truffle-flavoured olive oil.

The fresh black truffle may be Tuber aestivum or Tuber uncinatum, depending on seasonal availability and as stated on the product label. The oil provides a separate and repeatable white truffle aroma cue.

Introduce the two scent sources separately. Do not mix them during the initial recognition stages.

What the Starter Kit Contains

• 100 g fresh black truffle scent-training material: Tuber aestivum or Tuber uncinatum;
• 100 ml white truffle-flavoured olive oil for controlled aroma-recognition exercises.

Controlled Training Progression

Begin in a quiet environment with one clearly identified scent source. Place the fresh truffle material inside a securely closed, ventilated scent container. For the oil exercise, apply a small amount to a separate cotton pad, scent container or training object.

Reward the dog separately after a correct identification. Once the selected cue is recognised consistently, progress gradually from clearly presented targets to concealed indoor hides and controlled outdoor searches.

Keep the containers and training objects for the two scent sources clearly labelled and stored separately to reduce unwanted scent transfer.

Safety and Handling

Treat the fresh truffle component as non-edible scent-training material for this product. Do not allow the dog to lick, chew, tear or swallow it. Always use it inside a secure scent container and supervise every exercise.

The white truffle-flavoured olive oil is used as an aroma cue. Do not allow the dog to drink it or consume an uncontrolled quantity, and do not use it as dog food, a canine supplement or a reward.

Component-Specific Storage

Keep the sealed fresh truffle component refrigerated and follow the storage and date information on its individual label. Inspect its condition before every training session and do not use damaged or deteriorated material.

Keep the oil bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry and dark place, protected from heat and direct sunlight. Follow the best-before date and any additional instructions shown on the bottle.
