Fresh Tuber magnatum White Truffle – Medium Size
Medium Fresh White Truffle – Tuber magnatum
This medium-size selection consists primarily of whole fresh, wild-harvested Tuber magnatum Pico truffles. Individual truffles typically weigh between 10 and 20 grams and measure approximately 2–3 cm in diameter, providing a practical balance between presentation, portion control and versatile kitchen use.
The truffles may have naturally regular, lobed or irregular shapes. Minor superficial scratches, clean cuts or small incomplete areas can occur during harvesting and inspection without affecting their intended culinary use. Colour, shape, marbling and aroma vary naturally between individual truffles and seasonal batches.
What Medium Size Means
- Species: Fresh white truffle, Tuber magnatum Pico
- Individual weight: Typically 10–20 g per truffle
- Diameter: Approximately 2–3 cm
- Form: Primarily whole medium-size truffles
- Shape: Naturally regular, lobed or irregular
- Intended use: Thin shaving, slicing, individual portions and professional kitchen preparation
Medium size describes the physical dimensions of the truffle. It does not guarantee stronger or weaker aroma. Aromatic intensity depends primarily on maturity, freshness, storage and handling, and the characteristics of the individual seasonal batch.
Aroma, Flavour and Culinary Use
Fresh Tuber magnatum develops a pronounced and complex aroma, often described as earthy, savoury and slightly garlicky. Its flavour is delicate and is best appreciated when the truffle is sliced very thinly.
Shave the truffle immediately before serving over warm, finished dishes such as tagliatelle with white truffle and Parmesan cream, risotto, eggs, potatoes, polenta or mild cheeses. The warmth of the dish helps release the aroma. Avoid prolonged cooking, frying or boiling, as high heat reduces the volatile aromatic compounds.
Natural Seasonal Variation
Fresh truffles are wild seasonal products. Size, shape, exterior colour, internal marbling, moisture and aromatic intensity can vary from one specimen and batch to another. Product photographs show representative examples rather than an identical item.
