Season and Availability
Fresh Tuber macrosporum is a seasonal product. Availability depends on the current harvest and the condition of the truffles available for selection. The product may remain visible when temporarily out of season or unavailable.
What B Grade Means
B Grade describes the physical commercial selection of the truffles rather than a guaranteed level of aroma intensity. For this product, individual truffles are approximately 3–10 g with an approximate diameter of 1–3 cm. Up to 40% of the selection may have minor natural cuts or scratches.
These physical characteristics make B Grade particularly practical where the appearance of the whole truffle is less important than its culinary use.
Appearance, Aroma and Texture
Tuber macrosporum has a dark exterior and a dark grey to black interior with lighter veins when mature. Its characteristic aroma may include earthy, savoury and garlic-like notes. Aroma intensity, colour, marbling, moisture, shape and surface appearance vary naturally between individual truffles and seasonal batches.
How to Use B Grade Smooth Black Truffle
B Grade truffles are suitable for slicing, grating, chopping and culinary preparation with pasta, risotto, eggs, potatoes, meat dishes and sauces. The quantity used should be adjusted to the dish, serving size, maturity and individual aroma of the truffles.
Freshness, Packing and Delivery
Orders are dispatched using Express Delivery in Insulated Packaging with cooling materials where appropriate. The insulated packaging is designed to help protect the product during transit but does not constitute a continuously monitored cold chain.
Fresh truffles are not vacuum packed. Available delivery services and estimated transit times depend on the destination and are shown at checkout.
Storage After Delivery
Refrigerate the truffles immediately after receipt at approximately +2°C. Wrap each truffle in clean, dry absorbent paper and place it in a suitable closed container or glass jar in the refrigerator. Replace the paper daily or whenever it becomes damp.
For the best aroma, flavour and texture, consumption within approximately 5–8 days is generally recommended, depending on the condition of the truffles upon arrival. This is general guidance rather than a guaranteed shelf life.
