The oil provides a consistent aroma source for introductory scent recognition, scent association, hidden-object searches and progressive outdoor exercises. Its aroma should not be presented as identical to the full natural variation of fresh Tuber melanosporum.

Introducing the Training Scent

Apply a small amount to a cotton pad, scent container, training dummy or another object reserved specifically for scent exercises. When direct contact with the oil is not required, place the scented material inside a secure, ventilated training container.

Begin in a quiet environment with a clearly presented target. Reward the dog when it identifies the aroma correctly, then progress gradually to concealed indoor hides and controlled outdoor searches.

Increase the difficulty by changing the hiding place, distance, environment and number of competing scent distractions. Keep the training method consistent and separate scent objects from ordinary household items.

Supervision and Safe Handling

Use only a small amount and supervise every training session. Do not allow the dog to drink directly from the bottle or consume an uncontrolled quantity of oil. The product is not intended as a nutritional supplement, the dog’s main food or an unrestricted reward.

A very small amount may be applied to a suitable food reward when this method forms part of the dog’s established training routine. If the dog has dietary restrictions, known sensitivities or a medical condition, seek veterinary advice before applying the oil to food.

Close the bottle immediately after use, keep it out of reach of children and prevent uncontrolled access by animals.

Human Culinary Use

The oil is made from edible ingredients and may also be used by people as a flavoured finishing oil. Add a small amount to pasta, risotto, potatoes, eggs, sauces, meat dishes and other savoury preparations.

Add it near the end of preparation when possible. Its aroma and flavour should not be presented as identical to fresh Black Truffle.
